Cars in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking political figure stated the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
